Yay For Friends with Coupons!

The Hubster has been wanting me to pick up a couple baby gifts for some friends at work. I meant to get to it last week, but I never did. My friend, Bobbie Jo sent me a 20% off coupon for Gymboree in the mail around the end of last week.

So yesterday, I took the baby over to the mall while J was at school, and we did some shopping.

Momma got her favorite Caribou Coffee drink, and then we hit Gymboree. They happen to have just started a 50% off sale too. Not only did I find the gifts I needed, I picked up some spring outfits for the girls (mostly J).

Then Ava and I hit B&BW for some soap and wallflowers re-fills.

Ava was SO funny. We had been to Wal-Mart to pick up some boring essentials before we went to the mall. She was just chatting up a storm with anyone who would listen. She was the same way at the mall, and continued chatting to me when we got home.

Later in the evening, she pushed a little chair over to mine, climbed up on it, and decided to have a talk with me. I grabbed the camera and made a little video. :)

Anyone Want to Take Bets?

On whether I am still semi-sane come Monday? LOL

It started snowing here, around about 11am. Just in time to be a huge mess in time to Get Johanna from School.

There's nothing I love more than driving around on sloppy roads, with people who drive like morons. :-/ I came close to not having to worry about what we do with my car when we get the van. Thankfully I was travelling in the left lane of a two lane road when this genius pulled out from a side street in front of me, and then realized she couldn't get stopped.

Anyway, they are saying we should get something like 4 inches of snow today. There's more coming Thursday and Friday.

Did I mention the hubster is home sick?

Stuck at home. All the rest of the week. With my FAMILY. auuuuggghhh! LOL Don't get me wrong, I love them, and there's really no-one I'd rather be stuck with, but I think by Monday I'll be ripping out my hair. LOL

At least we haven't started watching Season 7 of Charmed yet. I'm sure we'll be getting that watched over the next few days! LOL

Does it really work?

I'm always seeing ads on TV for Weight Loss Supplements like Hydroxycut, and I wonder, does that really work? Are these people for REAL, or did they just paste some gals head onto some other gal's body? Sure, you could head over to their website, but of course they are going to tell you it works, it's their site!

Supplement Judge is a great website devoted to educating consumers about supplements. They are dedicated to getting the supplement companies to be responsible, by providing useful, effective, and safe products.

They have a very user friendly site where you can search on all sorts of supplements, from the aforementioned Weight Loss supplements, to Body Building supplements, to your every day multi-vitamin. You can read reviews from people who have tried the product and also find the best place to find the best price on what you are looking for!

Late Night

I couldn't sleep. So I got up, I'm, finally tired enough to get my brain to shut off.... I hope.

This James Taylor song came to mind.... :)

Let It All Fall Down

Sing a song for the wrong and the wicked and the strong and the sick, as thick as thieves.
For the faceless fear that was never so near, too clear to misbelieve.
Well the sea is jumping salty and the porpoise has the blues,
my recollection's faulty and I cannot find my shoes.
And my wiring is misfiring due to cigarettes and booze,
I'm behind in my dues, I just now got the news.
He seems to tell us lies and still we will believe him,
then together he will lead us into darkness, my friends.

Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.
Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.

The man says stand to one side, son, we got to keep this big ball rolling.
It's just a question of controlling for whom the bell is tolling.

Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.
Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.

There'll be suffering and starvation in the streets, young man.
Just where have you been, old man? Just look out of your window, man.

Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.
Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.

Well, it ain't nobody's fault but our own,
still, at least we might could show the good sense
To know when we've been wrong, and it's already taken too long.
So we bring it to a stop then we take it from the top,
we let it settle on down softly like your gently falling snow
or let it tumble down and topple like the temple long ago.

Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.
Let it fall down, let it fall down, let it all fall down.

Monday, Again?!

Well, here we are and it's Monday again. I don't even go off to work, and I'm not a Monday fan. LOL Johanna looked at me this am and said "Mom, please don't tell me I have to go to school today!"

I said "You have to go to school today"

"Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom, I SAID don't tell me that!"

So yeah... It's Monday here. LOL

I'm trying to get my coat washed and dried before we have to leave. I was a bad Momma and didn't hang it up in the closet. I left it hanging from the railing post, and it got all furry. Imagine that... fur in a house with 4 pets. Really now, who would've figured.

I need to hit the grocery store. I should go to the MOMS Club meeting if I can. We'll have to see what time I get done at the store and whether or not Ava is awake or asleep.

Well, time to put the coat in the dryer and start our Monday. Bah.

Happy Birthday!

Our Niece, Natalie, turned 5 today!!

Here's a picture of Johanna and Natalie from when they visited this past summer!

Apparently she had a great time at her b-day party yesterday. She had it at the MN Zoo!

Sadly, our package didn't make it on time. I guess the blizzard had something to do with it. It's still sitting at the Fed-Ex facility in St. Paul. :( On the upside, it'll give her an extra day of opening gifts. ;)

Dilbert

My friend, Jilley sent me an IM with yesterday's Dilbert cartoon. It cracked me up!

I always forget I can look at the funnies online. I never seem to manage to read them on the days I actually get a Sunday paper.

Coming to a State Fair near you!

Apparently, there's going to be a BIG announcement at PayPerPost in the next few weeks.

I have a pretty good idea what it's going to be too.

Everyone knows that PayPerPost is in the business of online advertising. What you might not know is that they all lead a double life. That's right. Each summer they spend their weekends at County Fairs all across Florida. No, they are not in the expo building trying to round up advertisers. You can find them in the circus tent, putting on a great show!

Naturally, Ted Murphy is the Ringmaster. He wouldn't have it any other way. He's large and in charge. The lovely ladies in Customer love dress in pretty sequined outfits, with big feather hats all while they coax their big kitties to jump through fiery hoops. (ok, they are really overweight house cats jumping through hula hoops with paper flames, but they look pretty tough and they purr real loud!!)

I know that sounds really exciting, but the highlight of any circus is the clowns, and the entire IT team does a great job! My husband is an IT guy, and I know he does a lot more goofing off at work, not to mention, I've seen his entire IT team pile into one car to go to lunch, so that he doesn't have to lose his spot in the parking ramp!

It's really amazing watching them juggle! They seem to be able to do about 10 things, all at once! I really don't know how they do it!

The best part is when they manage to dump water all over the ringmaster! He thought it was just a bucket of confetti, but they sure pulled the wool over his eyes!

So, as for that BIG announcement? I'm almost positive that they've decided to take their show on the road. I think they are planning on taking the entire summer off, and hitting all the big State Fairs across the entire USA! I'm looking forward to their blog post, listing all their tour dates!

The Good, The Bad, and The Fluffy

Well, Somehow, Sioux Falls managed to escape the huge amounts of snow that were seen north and south of us. It looks like we got about 6 inches. Maybe 7.

It was wild watching the weather channel this morning and seeing this huge band of dark blue hovering over us.

Church was cancelled this am. Not that we've been lately, but hey.. LOL

I just sat down here after getting Johanna all bundled up to go help her Daddy clear the snow. She was pretty excited to go out and play. I get a reprieve from having to go out and use the snow blower, since the fumes trigger my asthma. Same goes for mowing the lawn in the summer. hehehe.. that's a good thing.

Ava's settling down for her nap, so there's no bundling us up to go out and play too. That's the bad.

I've been trying to work on wash. I've gotten three loads done so far. We've made the usual weekend calls, tho I still need to phone my Mom. We had lunch, I made more ginger cookies (yum!)

No it's time to sit here and catch up while Ava naps. I need to work on my QWERTY badge for Pogo too. That one is going to take a while. LOL

Oh, and I'm still excited about getting a new(er) car! I'm going to have new-fangled things in it... like windows that go down with a button, and a cd player!, and a car that locks and unlocks with one of those booper doo-dads! GO me! I'm stepping into the 2000's! LOL

The Ultimate Gift

Have you heard about this movie?? I comes out in the theatres on March 9. The premise of the book is this:

Red Stevens was a self-made man who gave his family everything. When Red dies, his estate of oil companies is divided among his greedy relatives, however, one family member is singled out in his will, Red’s great-nephew, Jason.

In order to gain his Uncle Red’s inheritance. Jason must go through a series of challenges, learning a different lesson each step of the way.

It sounds like a really great story. I may need to see if my library has this book and get it read before the movie comes out!

The movie stars Academy Award nominee Abigail Breslin, James Garner, Ali Hillis, Drew Fuller (from Charmed!!) and Brian Dennehy.

Like the book, the movie is based on the message that "The only way you can truly get more out of life for yourself is to give part of yourself away.”

This is the official site of the movie "The Ultimate Gift" and the grass-roots movement its starting to help charities and give to others. To date, more than more 5 million dollars has been donated to charity.

Schools across the nation are incorporating the message into their curriculum.

The movie is even inspiring teens through the“Show Of Hands” site. It's always wonderful to see teens get involved in a great cause!

Have a sparked your interest? Here's a little sneak peek of the movie. This cracked me up!

Pretty Slick

The view from my window right now, looks like the inside of a snow globe!

We woke up this morning to Rain and Thunderstorms. By about 9am it was freezing rain. It did that off and on until about noon, when it started to snow. Last I heard they are saying we could get up to 8 inches of snow.

Snow is fine. Snow on top of frozen rain on top of a sheer ice slick, is another story.

Future Furniture

I'm a planner. I'm not an obsessive planner, I don't think, anyway... lol

I do like to start thinking about things, and looking at things long before I need them.

Take for example the whole situation with the girls, and are they going to sleep in the same room, or separate rooms. Right now, Johanna is wanting to share a room with Ava.

This has me looking at bunk beds, despite the fact that we won't be purchasing their Furniture for at least a year.

I really like the kind that can also be separated into two, individual beds, I know I want them to look more girlish. White and cute. lol

I'm not sure tho, what style I like best. I suppose I should let Johanna have SOME say tho, huh?

This one is pretty neat, despite the fact that it can't be seperated into two beds.

It's called "The Getaway". Johanna's room isn't huge and this would really help with that issue.

I also like a more traditional look like this one:

I found these sets at a site called Great Priced Furniture. They have all sorts of great kids furniture, from room sets to chairs to corner units (thinking we may need one of those too!) LOL I found their site really easy to use, and the selection is great!

Tired

I've been really tired the past couple of days. The kind of tired you are when you find out you are pregnant... only it's the exact opposite thing going on here. lol

The past couple months, I seem to get really exhausted right before my period arrives. It hasn't happened often enough for me to learn to recognize that that is what is going on. At first I think I must be getting a cold or something. Both girls have drippy noses, so I figured that was it, until WHAM! Ooooohhhh yeah....

So I haven't really been up to a whole lot the past couple days. I've tried to do a few things around the house, but then I just peter out.

I have a bunch of wash I need to do today. Hoping I can start that.

We have a winter storm warning here for the weekend. It's either going to just rain or we're going to get up to 10 inches of snow.

I was hoping we could go out and get some real shoes for Ava this weekend, but it's looking like it might have to wait another week.

Oh, and we've started looking more seriously for a mini-van for moi! YAY!!! I can't wait!

Funnest thing, EVER

Holy Cats!

Check out this cute little Box.net Widget I just made!!!

Get your own Box.net widget and share anywhere!

It was a snap to make! You just go to the page, upload 3 of whatever you want... be it a picture, music file, video file or podcast. It was really easy! I uploaded a picture of me, a Ben Taylor song (that I love)and this crazy piano video Eric had emailed me (that you want to watch while the kids are busy elsewhere... LOL)

Box.net offers unlimited bandwidth as well as hosting up to 1gb of files for you, for FREE! You aren't limited to just the three things, either. After you create your widget and put it on your site, all you have to do is click on "upload more files" to add more stuff!

I really like that you can customize it too! You can add a title and select from a few, basic colors.

So go-on, run over there and get one for you site, NOW! All the Cool kids are doing it! :)

Heat Wave!

Our high today was 45! yes, 45!! That's almost shorts weather in these parts! LOL

Spring is nice, but that also means the snow is melting and sooner than later I'm going to need to go pick up the back yard. ick. Fortunately it's supposed to snow over the weekend.

Not really much going on here. While Ava had her afternoon nap, I was all settled down to watch MTV's Monday night line up, on tape. What I discovered tho, was for some reason the VCR thought that Sunday was Monday. It didn't record what it should have recorded on Sunday and recorded nothing on Monday.

So instead of it recording FOX on Sunday, it recorded an hour of CBS followed by 2 hours of MTV.

How freaking bizarre is that? I thought, OK, maybe it's off by a day and then it recorded Tuesdays line-up on Monday so at least I'd see "The Hills" and "Dance Life"

nope. it recorded NOTHING. It recorded Tuesdays lineup just fine and dandy last night.

Oh and speaking of last night, let's not get me started on AI. (GAG) PLEASE let the girls be better than the boys were, PLEASE... something has to counterbalance the suck fest that was the boys' last night!!!

Rockstartup.com

If you haven't heard by now, PayPerPost started their own reality tv show. It's called, RockStartup. What better way to document the life and times of a startup venture, than with a reality show? At the very least, they can look back on it and realize where they went wrong... KIDDING guys, really!

It's been a lot of fun to watch the various episodes and see the inner workings of PayPerPost.

I always look forward to seeing what the next episode will be about! My only complaint is that they are not long enough! They always leave me wanting more!

My favorite episode by far was my friend Julie's wedding.

I had the pleasure of watching this via the chapels live web-cam and I about cried the entire time! LOL

The Rockstartup episode of the wedding was even better! It really made me feel like I was a part of the action.

I have known Julie for a very long time now. We've posted on various boards together for about 10 years now, I'd say. She's always there to lend an ear when you want to ramble on about something senseless. She'll listen to you and even reply with some kind of cute emoticon to make you believe she was listening... just kidding. I remember her always being there for me when I was going trough some tough times back when we were trying so hard to have a baby. She's a great friend and I was really excited when PayPerPost decided to have this contest and she and Micheal were selected as one of the three finalists!

Besides, it was just the kick in the pants those two needed to finally make it legal! hahahaha The slackers!

It certainly makes for a great wedding story for them to tell the grand-kids when they are old and grayer. ;)

Busy... sort of....

We were back to the grind today. I managed to get J to school on time this am. Ava and I grocery shopped and we came home after that and I put stuff away while she had a cookie and watched baby crack Einstein.

Yesterday or so, my board gals and I started up an old discussion. It's been quite refreshing. So I spent time this am, and later this afternoon chatting with them. Almost a year has gone by since there was a big change over there, and it's just nice to talk about it as a group.

We went out to Bk for lunch and then went to WM to do some additional shopping.

Ava fell asleep on the way home and after I brought that stuff in, I sat here, holding her and read my boards.

I hadn't even thought about checking in on PPP until now.

Eric came home and I realized I had totally forgotten about supper. LOL Looks like we're having fish sticks and fries instead of the chicken and rice I had planned on. He has a meeting tonite, so quick is good.

Ava's finally awake and wandering around. J's been doing classwork she missed when she was out on Friday.

AI tonite, and I'm pretty darn excited about it too!

Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday!

A Credit Card to Remember

Why we don't have these here in the US, I don't know.... We have different types of cards, ones you can put your picture on, or your dogs picture on... but none that are a different SHAPE!

Isn't this cute?

Back in 2003 MINT first introduced the Mint credit card in the UK. They offered both a standard looking card and the "MC2" which is the cute looking one up there. :)

They are currently offering UK residents 0% financing on purchases until 1st December 2007, as well as 0% on balance transfers (2.9% fee) until 1st December 2007.

In addition to the typical credit card, MINT also offers a pre-paid gift card. I know that here in the US, pre-paid credit cards are the gift of choice for most teens. Heck, I wouldn't mind a pre-paid card I can use anywhere! Store cards are nice, but then you are committed to finding something you like in one particular store.

The MINT Gift card is available in amounts ranging from £10 to £250, and can be used at most worldwide retailers or wherever Visa Electron is accepted.

Alrighty.

So Ava's been trying to see just how far she can stick her entire fist down her throat before making herself throw up.

Repeatedly.

Ick.

Gag.

Yuck.

WTH is UP with that, anyway?

Yeah, this is fun, lemme yak alllllllllllllllll over myself and then do it again.

Let's now PLAY in what I just yakked up after supper, since i'm still sitting in my highchair.

Better yet, lets try it AGAIN while Momma's trying to get me cleaned up from the first mess.

Then maybe I'll start bawling when Momma has the audacity to yank my fist outta my mouth while saying "NO!"

(GAG)

Hope you all were well done with supper... LOL

Losing Weight

These days, there seems to be all sorts of conflicting info regarding weight loss and dieting. Eat this kind of food, but not that. Take this kind of pill, drink this kind of drink. Join this program or that. It's hard to know what you should do.

It's nice to be able to find easy to follow common sense. Weight Loss Tips.

At a relatively new website called http://www.healthadel.com, their goal is to provide easy to understand Health information. They have topics ranging from the aforementioned Weight Loss Tops, to Sports Injuries and Skin Care Issues. So go poke around a bit and you'll see what I mean about their easy to understand articles. Like I said, they are a new site too, so be sure to check back as they continue to add more information.

Monday, Monday

So, I had plans to get out of the house today, finally. I was going to take the girls to Wal-Mart. Niece #1 is turning 5 next week-ish. We generally send an outfit and a toy. We got word yesterday that she is really wanting some Barbie stuff, and I figured J would like to have a say in what we send her cousin for her b-day.

We got in the shower a bit later than I had planned.

So we ate lunch at home.

Then J's buddy rang the doorbell. J went next door.

I had planned to run over there after an hour and a half to go get her or see if she still wanted to go with me or what.

Right about then was when Ava decided to nap. LOL

So now it's 3pm and the baby's awake, but I really don't feel like going out now, not to mention J's still playing next door. LOL

Ah well....

I need to try and make a phone call anyway.

Sunday Ramblings....

Well we slept in until 7am again. Ava didn't go to sleep until we all went to bed last night. That was a lot of fun. She fussed a lot too. I ended up spending about half of the night with her sleeping with her head on my shoulder, and my sleeping without my head on the pillow. I was tired enough, I didn't really care. LOL

Eric went out and shovelled a bit. The snow blower needs to be looked at. For some reason it keeps cutting out on him, among other things.

I cleaned out the medicine cabinet. It was a wreck and there was a bunch of expired stuff in there, so it was good to get that cleared out. I do need to remember to buy come more children's Tylenol tho. Usually we just use children's Motrin, but I like to have the Tylenol on hand as well.

We had leftovers for lunch. I'm not sure what I'm fixing for supper yet.

Eric also started some laundry.

Ava had a big nap.

I heard from Jilley and Sindy today. Sounds like they had a fabulous time at the spa yesterday (insert jealous whining here)! Today they will be celebrating Marshall's birthday! It really seems like just yesterday when Sindy headed out there to watch the girls while Henry and Jilley went to the hospital to have him!!

I really need to pick up the living room so I can run the Roomba.

Ava's happily watching a Baby Einstein DVD and Johanna is wanting to play that Cinderella game that came packaged with the Cinderella 3 DVD, so maybe I should quit rambling here and get to it!

Easy Home Security

Here's a neat idea from Laser Shield Systems, Inc. They have created the world’s first "Plug N’ Go" Instant Security System.

This is great for homes, apartments, offices, dorms and vacation homes.

This is also an ideal solution for those Do-it-yourself'rs who would like a home Security System, that is affordable and easy to install.

All you need to install this system is a standard wall outlet and a phone jack. The unit is also Pet Friendly! It come with a unique Pet Shield that instantly snaps into place on the front of the units motion detector. It works by blocking different portions of the motion sensor making it so that your pet is less likely to set off the alarm.

What's great about this system is that it's available at many of your local stores. You can find it at Sears, Home Depot, K Mart to name a few. I love being able to actually go to the store and check something out for myself before buying.

There are many other great features with this system, like the Panic Button, the Instant Learn Feature and The User Call Feature, which allows you to phone into your system while you are away from home. You can even activate the hidden microphone to listen in on babysitters, children, or pets. How cool is that?

So if you have been thinking about getting a security system for you or your college kids or even your elderly parents, this is definitely worth looking into!

Ava's Camera

Isn't that a cute camera Ava has in here pics down there? It was a birthday present form her Daddy. I think it's by Gund. When you press the shutter button down, it makes this realistic shutter noise.

Unsigned Bands

I just found out about this great site called Unsigned.

They feature a whole host of Independent and Unsigned Bands in a wide variety of genres. You can find everything from Club Music to Jazz Bands and more!

Whether like me, you are just a fan of Independent Artists or if you are a Band looking for some exposure, this is a terrific site! It's really great to be able to find a bunch of music, all in one place.

If you take a minute to pre-register with them, you can tell them what types of music you enjoy listening to. Then when you log in they will automatically show you artists in all of the categories that you selected. I really like that feature! It saves me from having to do a whole lot of searching around! Especially considering that my musical tastes are all over the board!

Another great thing about this site is that they've taken the time and listened to their users suggestions, and are developing some really neat New Features for the site. You have to love a place that takes feedback to heart and uses it to make their site even better!

Yaaaaaaaaaaawnnnnnnnnnnn

Ava was up most of the night. She's apparently caught J's cold. Imagine that. Sticking your fingers into your big sisters nose and mouth will result in your getting sick as well. Who'd have thunkit? :-/

We got up about 7am. Late for us. I thought for sure it was 5:30. I was way too tired for 7am!

We've dined on Drakes Cakes, started wash, talked with all the Grandparents and Eric's taken pictures.

Ava keeps thinking she wants a nap and then changes her mind. I think she's so busy with walking around, she must think that she's going to miss something if she goes to sleep. :-P

I saw over on Kat's Blog that Our Seven Qtpies is having a Birth Story Contest. I'm thinking maybe I'll work on doing J's Birth Story. She said no scary ones, so that kinda leaves Ava's out! LOL

Hope you all have a nice Saturday!

Get your game on

Just last week, the hubster and I were discussing our future plans for the Girls' room. Ok, I was discussing it, he was listening....sort of.

Johanna seems to be leaning towards having bunk beds so that She and Ava can share a room some day. That works for me. I'd like to get them a dresser as well, and I was telling Eric that I think a desk would be a good idea too. The kitchen table will suffice for doing homework for a couple of years, but I think it would be nice for Johanna to have a separate place to get it done once she gets a bit older.

That was when Eric piped up and said that we should get a card table! He grew up doing his homework on the game table that lived in the lower level of his childhood home.

I'm not opposed to the idea. We're a card game loving family. I just don't us being able to get one until the girls are a lot older tho. I'm hoping that we can turn the current play area into a game area when they get older.

If you are currently in the market for a Poker or Game Table, Cardroom Supply has a great selection of tables. They also sell chairs, poker chips, and card supplies.

While there, why not sign up for their Select Customer List and receive new offers, discount coupons(yay!)? They also offer free shipping on all orders over $100 AND they also take Pay Pal, as well as all the usual credit cards!

My Mother is evil

I love my Mommy, but she is EVIL!

I just brought a box in off the porch. It's filled with Drakes Cakes! Yodels, Ring Dings, Funny Bones, Devil Dogs, Yankee Doodles, & Coffee Cakes. Pretty much everything but Fruit Pies and Sunny Doodles.

To add to the pure evilness of this, I _JUST_ took a HUGE batch of brownies out of the oven. I was feeling like a treat, so I whipped some up! ACK! At least the Drakes stuff will keep.

Well, I'm off to go gain 10lbs! If you don't see me for a few days, call a crane. I may need it to get out of the house. ;)

ARGH!

Ok, I know I'm several days late, but I just finished up watching "The Hills". and ARGH! Heidi needs to really get a clue. Is she really that dense? Spencer is a total player. I can't imagine having that low of a self-esteem to go running back to him like that.

Hopefully she's just going out with him to tell him it's OVER and to quit bugging her. Ya think? Probably not.

What Is beautiful to you?

Belisi asks, "What's Beautiful to You?"

Belisi has launched a new campaign, entitled "What's Beautiful to You?" Peter Belisi has said that there is more to beauty than just glitz and glamour. The most beautiful people he has seen are not models or celebrities, but everyday people, who make the world better. They've launched the "What's Beautiful to You" campaign with the hopes that others agree with his point of view.

My answer to this question? I see beauty everywhere. Beauty is my children. It's the way the care for one another and their friends. It's the frost covered trees, the animals at the zoo. It's the uniqueness of everyone and everything that surrounds me. Beauty isn't just a look, it's a feeling. It's how you feel when your husband looks at you, even when you are in your PJ's. It's how your daughter tells you are the prettiest Momma in the world, when you are frazzled from taking care of a crabby baby all day. Beauty is the everyday things in life that we sometimes take for granted.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Belisi brand, they manufacture beautiful high-end, ties, scarves and handbags.

To compliment this campaign, they will be giving away $100 Belisi gift cards for the best comments left on the Being Belisi blog.

So head on over to their blog, and tell them what is beautiful to you!

For some reason

I get the BEST ideas for blog posts, in the middle of the night.

I will wake up to nurse the baby, and think of some great, profound thing I have to say.

Then I wake up in the morning, fix breakfast get the girls ready and I have abosolutely NO CLUE what it was I had thought of the night before.

Hubby says I should just get up in the middle of the night and blog. I think he just wants to have more space in bed at night. LOL

Choo-Choo!

Growing up in the NY/NJ area, trains and train stations were just part of everyday life. It was nothing to hop on the train and go a couple of towns down the line to go shopping or go for ice cream. You could get on the train and ride into NYC. Many of my friends fathers commuted to work this way.

It never really occurred to me that this wasn't the norm for every town in America. My husband has NEVER ridden on a passenger train. I find that unbelievable.

Right before I got pregnant for the first time, we were planning a rail-trip out west. I can't remember now, how long of a trip we were planning. I got Pregnant and we decided to postpone the trip.

I think we need to revisit the idea again someday. What would really be nice, would be to plan a European Vacation and to travel around to the various countries by train. You can buy rail passes online these days. It's really simple to plan your trip. You can can search the schedules, buy tickets or multi-country passes. The Eurail Global Pass looks like a fun trip. With one pass, you can travel to 18 different European countries. You can visit Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, all on one pass!

I'm thinking this would be excellent for the "just out of college" set who want to backpack across Europe before settling into a career. At Railshopper.com they offer Youth and Student passes as well!

Railshopper is a great resource if you are thinking about taking a European rail trip!

Plugging along

I'm not getting quite as far along with the housework today as I would like. I'm on the 3rd load of wash. The landing has been scooba'd, the dishes done.

I ended up having to do an unexpected load of wash after the baby yakked all over the both of us. Not pretty! I think her tummy was just overly full.

At least I actually got a shower in today, tho! LOL

I've also being trying to catch up with MTV's Monday night line up. I've watched Super Sweet 16 and Engaged and Underage so far.

Ava's out cold now, so I may sit and fold some laundry and watch the other 2 shows here in a bit.

Been an interesting day, but like the hubster says "A bad day at home is better than a good day at work!" LOL

Big Money, No Whammy's!

Ever since PayPerPost rolled out thier new segmentation system, I've been seeing a lot of big money opportunities popping up on the main page.

I've seen $35 ones, $50 ones, $125 one and even $1,000 ones!! That's some big cash for those of you out there with high PR Blogs! Especially just for putting one sponsored post on your blog!

With PayPerPost you can make money blogging about things you know about or even enjoy talking about. I find that my best paid posts are ones where I am familiar with the subject.

Even if you are sitting at a lowly little PR2 like I currently am, there are still some great paying opportunites at PayPerPost. Just yesterday I was able to grab three, for a total of $24!

Sure, there are lots of other pay-to-blog sites out there. I don't think any of them have the reputation that PayPerPost has tho, and with the new segmentation system, they certainly are attracting a lot of big money advertisers! All this means that they offer more and better paying opportunites for bloggers.

Don't forget either, that PayPerPost requires disclosure from all of their bloggers. No matter whether you are a PR0 or a PR8! Everyone must have this on their blog. You can put your disclosure at the bottom of each paid post, stick it on your sidebar, or use that cute button down at the bottom of this post!

So go on, head over to PayPerPost and see what everyone is talking about! Sign up, make a few bucks, or make a ton of bucks! It's all up to you!

Well

We're home again today. Johanna woke up sounding like she swallowed a frog. We were supposed to hit todays lowest temp of -16 at 9am. Between that and her snotting around, I decided we'd stay home.

I think this is the most school she's missed all year!

Of course now she's acting OK. :-P Figures. I was up sneezing a bit last night myself and we were up a lot during the night. Not because of the baby, but the dog, and then hubster couldn't sleep after that.It was a long/short night here.

I'm planning on trying to catch up on housework today.. The girls' hamper is overflowing. My floors look like a fur-bunny desert. I have no clean mugs for tea.

Need to get this place whipped into shape!

Dental Implants

It's coming up on year since Eric had the first of his dental implant surgeries. It all started when he discovered that one of his molars had cracked. Thankfully for him, our dentist was able to see him right away. That was the good part. The bad part was that it was cracked all the down and needed to be extracted. Not really what he wanted to hear.

No one really wants a missing tooth. My first thought was, at least it's a back tooth. It's not as noticeable as a missing front tooth. Apparently, just leaving it alone isn't a great idea. Something about the remaining tooth not having pressure on it from the missing tooth and getting all gnarly and out of control. Eric definitely didn't want that.

Another option was for him to get a Bridge. This involved a lot of work, including getting the surrounding teeth, capped. Since the other teeth were fine, he really saw no reason to go through all that.

That left the last option which was getting an Implant. Our insurance wouldn't cover it, but it ended up being about the same cost as the bridge would've been.

If you aren't familiar with Dental Implants, basically they implant a small metal rod or rods into the jawbone, and then later they go in and attach a crown to that. It's a lot simpler than having to get bridgework done.

Eric went for several visits with the Implant Specialist. The crown was put on by our Family Dentist.

People often ask him what his experience was like. Was it painful, does it feel odd, etc? He is quick to tell them that it was completely worth it, and he'd definitely have it done again. Overall it was great, and it certainly hurt a lot less than a root canal! They gave him some sedatives to take, and he really doesn't remember much about it. Heck, he doesn't even remember my hitting a deer on our way home from the surgery, but that's a whole other story! LOL

Rocking Horses and more!

I spent some time this morning browsing around this great online store called, A Rocking Horse To Love.

We lucked out, in that we found a gorgeous wooden rocking horse when Johanna was a toddler, at a resale shop. She's had countless hours of fun on that horsey. She's even dressed it up and they've had many adventures together.

I'm looking forward to watching Ava have those same experiences.

Personally, I think every child should have a rocking horse to love!

If you are considering buying one for your child, please check them out!

In addition to Rocking Horses they also sell Educational Toys, Ride On Toys and Kids Furniture. They are also having a great February sale, with merchandise up to 25% off!

After the kids are in bed

Since it's Valentines Day and all, why not whip up a fun new drink for you and the hubster tonite? Maybe you'd like to try out a pink drink recipe from Daucourt Martin?

I've never really been a huge drinker, myself. In fact, the first time I ever had too much to drink was when I was 24 and Eric made me margaritas that kept increasing in strength.

Here's a tip. Don't drink too much, when you are in the process of painting your bedroom and getting new furniture. Especially when you are sleeping on a mattress out in the living room, since said bedroom is a wreck. Even more so when, after 3 drinks you then need to arrange the mattress that was formerly leaning against the wall, onto the floor so you can pass out sleep.

At any rate, that was the first and last time I woke up and didn't want to lift my head up off my pillow.

These days, my drink of choice is Kahlua and Cream. It's easy to make and I love it.

I also like to experiment with different drink recipes. It's fun to try new and different drinks. I'm the type that likes stuff that doesn't taste like it has alcohol in it. LOL if it's fruity or has cream or kinda tastes like a milkshake, I'm all over it!

So put the kids to bed and relax with your sweetie. Put on some nice music, eat some chocolates, sip some drinks and try and remember what it was like before you had those little sleeping angels!

This post is brought to you on behalf of Daucourt Martin Imports

Look Out!

You see that glint in her eye?

My Friend, Chris warns me that her son had that same look when he was Ava's age and I should LOOK OUT!

I'm in trouble, aren't I? One minute she will be getting into everything and the next she will flash you a cute smile and you can't help but laugh. She's going to walk all over us, isn't she? LOL

Happy Feet!

Have you seen this? It was really cute! We met my neighbor at the $3 theatre and the girls really seemed to enjoy it.

I thought Ava would nurse and fall asleep, but she was too interested in everything else. She did really well, up until the last 20-30 minutes or so. Then she decided to start cruising the chairs and trying to go up and down the aisle and get into other rows.

Who knew the movies would end up being a workout for this Momma?

Johanna had a fun time at school. She got a lot of nice Valentines from her class and her teachers. She also got to pick out a prize, and got a card form her Teachers for being the 1st one to lose a tooth. She thought that was great! I decided to just take her out to lunch. I figured she'd want to go to McDonald's, but she picked Culver's. By the time we did that, it was time to head to the movies.

After that, we stopped and picked up the pizza, and went to Walgreen's for some Valentines gifts.

I had a great time, but was happy to be home, since Ava was really needing a nap.

Now we are all unwinding, and Ava's snoozing and we are just waiting for Daddy to get home!

Just in time For Valentines Day, Sports Illustrated 43rd annual Swimsuit issue, featuring Beyonce' on the cover is hitting the newsstands!

There you can find, not only models fronm the current issue, but ones from past years as well. So even if you don't have time to run out and grab the magazine today, give your hubby a little surprise and download some swimsuit models to his phone. His friends at work will never believe him when he tells them it was part of his Valentines gift from you!

I wussed out

We skipped school today. It was -freezingcold out this am with the windchill, we had about 2.5 inches of snow and it was still coming down. The Hubster didn't want to snow-blow before he left work, and the plow hadn't been down the street yet.

Despite the fact that I did SIX loads of wash last week, I still managed to do FOUR today. The hamper with the girls' stuff is overflowing, but Eric needs to do some of his own wash tonite. (Yes ladies, he does his OWN WASH... I know, I know...)

Sadly, it's 3:42pm and I'm still in my jammies. Maybe that's a good thing, I don't know.... LOL

Don't Forget...

That tomorrow is Valentines day! if you've forgotten to go out and get your Honey a card, never fear, Egreetings is here!! They have a great selection offree, funny eCards for a variety of occasions!

When you head over to their site and sign up, you get a free 30-day trial membership. You will be able to send unlimited eCards for the first 30 days, after the trial period, a yearly subscription will only cost you $13.99.

That's not a bad price at all. I was in the card store at the mall earlier this week, and I couldn't believe that some of their cards were close to $4! Even if you only send out 4 Egreetings cards, you'd still be saving money over the mall card store!

I really need to mention this site to my husband. I'm thinking he could have some great fun sending these to his co-worker buddies. Can you imagine them finding one of these "Birthday Cleavage" ecards in their email? hehehehehe

They are always looking for funny thing to send to one another, just to embarrass one another, and this would be a great way for them to do it!

All the ecards can be personalized with text and pictures too. I think He needs to snap a funny picture of one of his buddies and send him a card! LOL

Less

Daddy took the pics, so of course they are amazing! LOL

Didn't get any of her with her gold $1 coin tho.

But here she is, minus 1 bottom tooth. I don't think it will be too much longer before I blog pictures of her with 2 missing teeth tho!

Home Buying

When we moved to SD, we were living in MN. We travelled here to check the area out, and see what the market was like. Not knowing anyone or the area, my husband found a Real Estate Agency on the web and made arrangements for an Agent to show us some homes.

At that point we were committed to letting him help us find a home, should we choose to move here. Obviously we did just that.

What we didn't know at the time is that there are some Realtors out there who are willing to share part of their commission with you! I had never even heard of this before today.

It's an interesting concept; RebateReps.com - Expert, Local Realtors who Share Their Commission with You!

What they are is a Nationwide Network of Real Estate Agents, from big name brokerages, who are willing to give you a credit at closing.

The first thing that came to my mind was WHY? It seems like Realtors are known best for wanting to get that big commission, and doing just about anything they can to get it!

Plain and simple. These days, the majority of potential home buyers use the Internet to search for homes. This means that they end up doing much of legwork that the Realtor would have done. Since he's not having to drive you all over creation to show you homes you may not even like, he can afford to share his commission with you.

Even better is the fact that these rebates offered by the Realtor apply to both new construction and to previously owned homes. So, don't worry if you were really wanting to build the home of your dreams. This will work for you too!

Recently they've been featured on CNN, in The Washington Times, and in The The Wall Street Journal.

Browsing around their site was a real eye-opener for me. They explains all the ins-and-outs of how the rebate program works. They talk about how the average Realtor earns his commission and what you can do to get the most out of your home buying experience.

If you are in the market for a new home, this site is definitely worth checking out!!

Home Security

My Dad ran two businesses. One was a TV/VCR repair shop. That was the main one, and he had a shop in the small NJ town I grew up in. Also out of that store, he ran a home security/locksmith/mishmash business. He did a lot of work for a contractor friend of his, and he also did a lot of work for a small, nearby airport.

I remember the first security system he installed in our home in the 80's. It basically consisted of magnetic window connectors and this big, obnoxiously loud bullhorn kind of thing that he put up in our attic. He installed the horn right in from the the attic vent, so you would be sure to hear it from the outside as well.

This system was FAR from perfect. Especially considering we had a dog who liked to put her paws on the windows, and a cat who liked to sit on the windowsill.

I'm not really sure how it all worked, but if the alarm went off, the police were notified via phone. Plus it just made that obnoxious noise until someone came and turned it off.

Eventually he just scrapped that system. The pets kept setting it off. The police would come by. No-one was here to shut it off. if it was lunchtime, Dad wasn't generally in his shop or at home. They couldn't get a hold of him.. no cell phones back then!

Security Systems sure have come a long way since then!

Sentinel Security offers the latest technology to Orlando Home Security System users. They offer both contract and no contract packages. They have a very helpful FAQ on their website. If you are in the Orlando area, and interested in having a Home Security System installed, please consider Sentinel Security!

BIG NEWS!

Our big news of the day yesterday was that Miss Johanna lost her first tooth!!!!

Her bottom two were wiggly. Silly girl decided to try and use her teeth to open her water bottle. (ack!) and POP! Out came 1 tooth.

At first, she was pretty upset about it. This wasn't according to her plan, and she didn't like it. LOL

After a while tho, she got over it, and now she thinks it's great. In fact, she was trying to convince us to let her eat and apple yesterday in hopes that the other one would pop out too. LOL

The Tooth Fairy stopped by last night. We weren't quite prepared for her, since we figured it would be a little while before a tooth came out.

We have a Pillow on order from ebay. I'm hoping it will get here in time for tooth #2.

Nonetheless, we put the tooth in a sealed envelope, and apparently the Tooth fairy used her magic wand to remove the tooth and put in a gold $1 coin, because the envelop was all sealed up still this am!

That Tooth Fairy is pretty cool!

I'm hoping to get a pic of "Less" as we've been calling her... with her holey mouth and her gold coin today!

Sleep Apnea

My Mom can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. It's ridiculous! She's had this issue for years now. Within 5 minutes of sitting down, she will be fast asleep.

She always assumed it was a side effect of one of the medications she's on, or perhaps a combination of these medicines.

I kept encouraging her to mention it to her Dr; rather than just assuming it was due to the medication. She finally got around to it one day, and her Dr. told her that wasn't a typical reaction to the medications she was on, and recommended that she go in for a sleep study.

She was not looking forward to having it done, but she went ahead with it anyway. After all was said and done, they diagnosed her with Sleep Apnea. They recommended that she get a CPAP machine. She refuses to get it, however. She doesn't think she will be able to sleep hooked up to one.

I've told her that I know a few women, whose husbands use one, and have had great success. Mom's pretty stubborn about it, however.

If you live in the NYC/NJ area like my Mom does, and are suffering from the same issues, you can check out The New York Physical Therapy Office. They are located in midtown Manhattan, at the corner of 40th Street and Madison Avenue.

They don't just specialize in Sleep Apnea and Physical Therapy, however. They also offer a variety of other services such as Chiropractic Care, and Medical Massage, just to name a couple.

Even if you aren't in the NYC/NJ area they have a lot of helpful information on their site, and it's definitely worth visiting!

Fuel My Blog

The great Wall of Blogs...Have you been there? Are you listed? I was lucky enough to stumble across them in the early stages, and get my picture up pretty high on the main page. All those spots are taken now, but there are plenty of spots left under the other categories.

Fuel My Blog is a great way to help promote your blog. Every day they pick a Blog of the Day for all the categories. Not only does it aid your site traffic, but you might even make find a great blog and make a new friend!

Sandy, over at Purple Wren is the blog of the day for the Business section. She has a great site! She's taken to reviewing a few of the blogs over at Fuel My Blog, that catch her eye! I may have to "borrow" this idea from her in the future. ;)

So go ramble around Fuel My Blog if you have some time, list your blog, search around, have some fun! :)

Dogs who eat weird things

Having had pets all of my life, I've certainly seen them consume strange things over the years.

Buddy, who is still very much a puppy at 1.5 years old, got into something the other day. We were lucky enough to see the remants of it. YUK! I think it was probably some fluff from a toy and some string from his rope-bone, but after being in his tummy for a while, it was hard to tell exactly. He's aways eating stuff he shouldn't. Like crayons. Usually we don't know about those until we see technicolor poop in the back yard. LOL

That got me thinking about when we first got Dottie. We adopted her from the local Humane society. I wasn't ready to handle a new puppy at the time. Johanna was potty training and I figured 1 trainee at a time was enough. One of our dogs had recently died, and we were so used to having 2 around, not to mention the other dog seemed really lonesome without his buddy.

So I searched their website, and there was Dot, 9 months old, already trained. A puppy still, but old enough to have been house trained.

We had her about 2 days when she started vomiting blood. Our dog that had recently passed before that, had starting vomiting the night he died, and we were completely freaked out. Off to the pet ER we went (because of course these things never happen on a weekday) several $$$ later, and they really didn't know much. They transferred her to our regular vet in the am, and kept her hydrated and sent her home the next day, once she had stopped the vomiting. They chalked it up to the stress of being in a new home, and all that.

We put her on lamb and rice puppy food, just to be safe.

Fast Forward a couple of weeks. I take Johanna out back with the dogs, and a little while later, I look over, and there's Dottie with a collar sticking out of her mouth!!!

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... OK... It was Skye's collar, and it was just dangling, whole out of her mouth. She had apparently yanked it off his neck and started eating it! Good Grief! We weren't sure of she had chewed it up, or just tried to swallow it whole.

It was after 7pm, so off the the ER we went, AGAIN. At this point, I tell Eric, I'm starting to think we should look into getting pet insurance!!! We had the 2 ER visits in a month, plus we had the bill from having to get our other dog cremated... it was getting a bit silly!

Thankfully after a couple of x-rays they determined she had indeed chewed it up into bits, and would most likely just pass it easily.

We never did get the pet insurance, but I really was this-close to getting some after that. Thankfully she outgrew her puppiness and doesn't eat too many weird things anymore! Buddy, not so much, but I'm really hoping that with age, will come wisdom, or at least a small ounce or two of common sense! LOL

More Frozen Fog

We woke up this am to frosty trees. I really can't say enough about how pretty they are!

As I mentioned earlier, Eric took off after breakfast this am to take some pictures. I can't wait to see them all!

He's put a few up already and is just teasing me with them! :-P

I'll be sure to blog a few once they are all up on his site! :)

Roses

My love of Roses started at an early age. I started taking dance classes when I was 7, and on recital night, my Daddy always handed me a bunch of beautiful yellow roses and baby's breath. They smelled SO good. I would just sit in the back of the car on the way home, and drink them in!

Valentines Day is this week, and I don't know about you, but the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Valentines Day, are Roses. Well, and candy... ;)

The Internet has made it really simple to send roses to your sweetie, your Mom, or whomever that special someone is!

Of course Roses aren't just for Valentines Day! You can send them for Birthdays, Mothers Day, or just because! (trust me, that's always a big hit!!)

Just in case...

you weren't sure if you should go swimming, in the winter, in SD, this should clear things up for you! ;)

Eric went on a Trek out to Arrowhead Park this morning to take pictures.

I don't think they allow swimming at all, not to mention in the winter. LOL I just thought it was funny!

I'm Italian

My Mom is 1/2 Italian. I guess that makes me 1/4 Italian, but growing up in NJ, under my Italian grandmothers wing, makes me feel a lot more Italian than I am. My Moms side of the family certainly acted more Italian than Irish, tho I'm guessing that's because my Grandmothers relatives were everywhere, and I don't think I ever even met my Grandfathers sister.

I LOVE Italian food. Not all of it. I could live without the Calamari and the "Anti-Past" as my Grandma would call it.

But ooh, the sauces and lasagnas and cream puffs and other desserts, and the smells from her kitchen. She was a fantastic cook. I used to love being in her kitchen!

Several years ago I did some genealogical research into her side of the family. They were pretty good at keeping papers. I had a bit of luck finding some info. One of these years I need to research it further, or better yet, maybe just look into some Property in Calabria, or somewhere and see if I can track down any relatives in person. That sounds like a MUCH better idea than sitting at some library doing research! LOL

Mmmmmmmm Coooookieees

A couple-few years ago Denise posted a recipe she discovered over at Allrecipes.com, called "Big Soft Ginger Cookies".

I decided they sounded like a good recipe to try. Especially since I had all the needed ingredients on hand. (I generally always do)

They were an INSTANT hit around here. I think I made a couple batches of them. I ended up giving some for Christmas gifts. We just couldn't get enough of them!!

I whipped up a batch this am, to send over to my neighbors house. The funeral is this afternoon. It's always hard to know what to do or say to let someone know you care. I just thought they might enjoy a baked treat. I know they are getting lots of casseroles from Church.

Of course Eric and Johanna needed me to assure them I made enough to keep some for them too. LOL

It's really a great cookie, if you are looking to try something other than choc. chip or PB!

Yay for picky eaters!

So earlier this week I bought a bunch of POST cereal that was on sale, cheap. LOL I got a couple boxes of Cocoa Pebbles. I love Cocoa Pebbles... I have ever since I was a kid.

Johanna asked to try them. She took two bites and declared she didn't like them.

This made me happy!!

Rarely is a person happy about a picky eater, but I'm sure glad I got to have 2 boxes all to myself! LOL

Sad

Yesterday, I learned that my friend & neighbors' Mother passed away the day before. She has been battling lung cancer for some time now. It was very aggressive and had spread to her brain.

It was a long haul for my friend. It was terrible to see her mother go through that.

I want to get her a little gift, to help her heal and to help her remember her mother. Something to bring her comfort. I think I know what I want, but if anyone has an ideas or suggestions, please feel free to leave me a comment, or email me.

Review Me?

I have been writing paid posts for PayPerPost for about 2 weeks now. Earlier this week, the PayPerPost team rolled out the newest version of their software. Along with this revision came several great new features, for both Posties and Advertisers.

One of the new features for Posties is something they are calling "Review My Post". Basically what happens is that I can attach a button to any of my blog posts, be they PPP ones or just my normal ramblings.

It looks like this:

When you, my reader clicks on this badge, you are directed to sign up with PayPerPost. (note you must be new to PPP)

Then what you do is go to your blog, write up a review of MY blog post and then post it on your blog. (still following me here? LOL) It's really pretty simple.

For that, PayPerPost will pay you $7.50! Just for giving your opinion of my post! Plus, once your blog is approved, you can start making money doing your own paid posts!

Extreme Cuteness

So Johanna was watching Cinderella 3. Amazingly, only for the 2nd time since we got it on Tuesday. LOL

At the end, affter the credits they play a bunch of songs, so she grabbed Ava and they started dancing. It was so cute! Naturally, I grabbed the camera, cause it needed to be documented!

Oh, and I told you my house is a wreck, so just ignore all that. One day I will sleep again and have the energy to keep up after my messy girls! LOL

Home Improvement

Our house isn't really that old. It was built in 1999. At the time we bought it. I was more than happy with the light fixtures. They beat the heck out of the old style bulbous things we had in out 1960's built tract housing in St. Paul!

After being here a while tho. I start to get the itch to change some things around. Buying new switch plates is always an easy thing to do, and I love trying to match them up with the decor.

Changing out your Home Lighting Fixtures is pretty easy as well, and really can make a huge difference in updating the look of your house. Maybe you have old, outdated fixtures, or perhaps your decorating style has changed.

I know for me, the big thing right now is our main kitchen light. It's one of those huge fluorescents, that takes up 1/2 the ceiling. It's really not very pretty, and a few weeks ago the bulbs went out. Thankfully there's a couple other lights in there, so we aren't totally in the dark, but I've been trying to convince Eric that an entirely different fixture is in order. Changing the bulbs on this thing is not going to be an easy task. Not to mention cleaning out all of the dead bugs in the cover that have accumulated in there. ICK!

It would be much easier to just replace it with some nice track lighting like this one, for example:

What do you think? What kind of lighting do you have in your kitchen, and do you like it? Let me know!

Giving Thanks

Kelli loves tagged me!

Name 3 Things You're Thankful For:

1. Shelter: Especially considering we live in South Dakota! Heating in the winter, cooling in the summer. I can remember, even as a girl I loved to listen to the rain hit the roof, and was ever thankful that I was inside, warm and dry and not out in the rain.

2. Love: It makes the world go round. I am thankful for those I love, and those who love me. Be they my immediate family, my IL's, or my friends. The world would be a dark and lonely place without love.

3. Security: Knowing there is food in the pantry, and not having to worry about how we will pay for our next meal, makes me very thankful. Along with this, comes the fact that we can afford for me to stay at home with our children. Not everyone is able to do that, and for that, I am very thankful.

Tag 3 Friends and tell them how thankful you are.

Working Dogs

Ok, this is really cool, have you guys ever watched K-9 to 5 on Animal Planet? I've known about dogs that assist the handicapped. There's seeing eye dogs, of course. Those that do police work, and help find people who are trapped or lost. What I didn't know is that there are dogs who can help with the detection of mold in your home! These dogs really need to get on that show!

Mold sniffing dogs! I would've never thought about that, but it makes a lot of sense! Dogs have been sniffing out things we can't smell for centuries! It's really no surprise then that they can detect mold pores and where they are. Especially those lurking behind walls and in places we can't see without ripping things apart.

Advanced Mold Diagnostics is a NJ Mold Remediation company who specialize in this unique service! They've been interviewed on TV and in the papers numerous times over the past 4 years.

Their site is a great resource for not only learning more about mold sniffing dogs, but about how mold grows and how YOU can prevent this from being a problem in your own home!

So Tired

Ok, really now. This tooth Ava is trying to cut, needs to just pop out already, cause this Momma can't handle much more of this.

Only getting to sleep 4 hours a night is no fun. She seems to do ok the first half of the night, but after that she wakes every 30-60 minutes.

This morning she was awake at 4:30am and trying to settle her back down took forever. I finally convinced her it was time to sleep and not be awake. We were probably a good 30 minutes into that when the dang cat decided to start Meowling for no apparent reason, and woke her back up. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

But yeah, I'm tired. My house is a wreck, cause I just don't have the energy to get much done. I'm spending all my energy just tying to function during the day. :(

I wish I could nap, but Johanna seems to have this "Momma is sleeping" radar. She could play up in her room for hours and never care about where I was, UNTIL I fall asleep somewhere. Then she's all over me. Drives me batty.

Guess I will go start me a caffeine drip and hope I can manage to function at a basic level.

It used to be that people would look at you like you had three heads when you told them you met the love of your life over the Internet.

Now, however, it's no big thing. More and more couples are connecting through the Internet. Whether it's through Free Online Dating sites, blogs, or a shared interest forum.

The Letter "N"

Every week at school, Johanna's class focuses on one specific letter of the week.

This week it's "C".

Once a month, Johanna has show-n-tell. They are to bring in something that starts with the lettoer of the week.

Her show-n-tell week this month, if the letter "N".

Ummm, yeah. We are drawing some blanks on that one. I thought of her stuffed "Nemo", but she didn't seem interested in that. I suggested she could bring a picture of her cousin "Natalie". She infomred me names aren't for show-n-tell.

So, if anyone has any good suggestions for us for the letter "N". Please, help a Momma out! :)

Video Sharing

Video sharing on the Internet is a fabulous resource. I know that at least once a day, I am seeking out videos to share with my friends.

I love that I can hop online and find clips from my favorite shows, videos or even some old commercial I remember seeing on TV when I was a kid.

Aapka Video is new Indian Video Sharing site. Their focus is to provide a site specifically designed for the Indian computer user.

This is a great resource for Indian men and women working here in the United States.

Bee-utiful Bellies!

Ok, let's face facts here. Pregnancy, while a wonderous, miraculous event, does weird things to your body.

Things grow and shift and stuff grows that shouldn't be growing in places. You lose total control over several body functions, and, unless you are really lucky, by the 9th Month, your tummy resembles the arena floor after a Monster Truck show.

It's important to moisturize the skin, and more so, when your are pregnant. There are many different options out there, it's hard to know which one to choose.

Mother's Intuition offers a great product called, Tummy Honey. It helps to prevent stretch marks.

Tummy Honey is made with natural ingredients! They are 3 different versions of Tummy Honey. The Butter and the Stick varieties are for preventing stretch marks and deep moisturizing. The Cream is effective for helping to fade your pre-existing stretch marks and also helps minimizing scars you may have.

So if you are Pregnant and looking for a great product to help prevent stretch marks, go check out Mother's Intuition!

YAY!

Charmed, Season 7 came out on DVD this am. I was beating down the door at WM this am. Well, sort of. They are open 24 hours. LOL However, they were still unpacking all the New Releases when I got there. They kindly dug one out of the box for me.

Now to have the time to watch it! AI tonite and tomorrow. We still have to finish the HIMYM dvd. too. I'm sure we'll hibernate part of this weekend anyway, if it ends up being as cold as they predict it's going to be, anyway!

While there, I also grabbed Cinderella 3 for Johanna. They had a special WM/Sams Club deal where you could get the movie and a pc game for the same price as getting JUST the movie. So I picked that up. Now I need to clear off some space from my computer so she can play it later. She's happily watching the movie at the moment. :)

Paper Dolls-Internet Style!

Do you remember paper dolls?? I do! I can remember getting some really cool Raggedy Ann and Andy ones from my Aunt, when I was 6 and sick with the chicken pox. I was so bored, and that was the BEST gift I could've gotten at that time! I can't remember now if I got the chicken pox and THEN strep or vice-versa, but I was out of school for 2 weeks. That's a loooong time when you are 6, and love your teacher! LOL

Now you can dress up dolls, Internet style! No cutting, no folding over those little tabs and hoping the clothes stay on! No tacking them with tape, and hoping it won't rip the paper. With this dollmaker, you just, click, drag and dress! There are tons of cute dolls and all sorts of clothes, from Fantasy-Princess type, to cool Emo stuff!

I know that Johanna would have a ton of fun with these Dress Up Games. I'll have to show her later tho, or I will never get to use my computer again, I'm sure! LOL Maybe I'll just keep it to myself and play with them when she's asleep. Does that make me a mean Momma? LOL

You can also save your doll and post it as your avatar in your forums, chats rooms or wherever it is you like to hang out on the net, and can post a pic, or HMTL. Heck, you could even make it your profile pic on your blog, or MySpace too!

So go, relive your childhood, or just make yourself a cool avatar for your favorite internet hangout, but most of all, have fun!!

Antique Jewelery

I love Antique Jewelery! I have quite a few pieces that my Grandma owned. I have her original wedding ring set too. Grandpa had the diamond reset for her, for their 50th anniversary, but she kept the original ones in her drawer. They were so special to her. I had an amethyst set into the engagement ring. That was all I could afford at the time. I thought about a CZ or something, but apparently, since the setting is Platinum, you can't do that.

I remember Grandma telling me that her diamond-cut wedding band was so rough, it used to hurt her finger at first. Today, the cuts are worn smooth in some spots. You can still make out most of the engraving in the engagement ring. What's funny is the date in the ring is a week before their actual wedding date was. I never did find out the story behind that!!

Antique jewlery is full of wonderful and rich history. They places they've been, the owners they've had.. the stories they could tell if the could talk.

Some wedding sets are passed down from generation to generation. Others get bought and sold at Antique Shops and estate sales.

These days, the Internet has made it possible and easy to find beautiful antique wedding jewelry from the comfort of your own computer chair!

Shopping for antiques online is fun! They have a great selection, and you don't have to worry about waking up at the crack of dawn to get the best deals like at an estate sale!

Superbowl Commercials

yeah, so.... they really weren't all that, were they? We recorded the
game, not to re-watch it, but to watch all the commercials! Yeah, we're
nerds!

I think tho, that hands down, this Blockbuster one was my favorite!! Technically, I don't think it was even a "superbowl ad" cause I think it was on just before kickoff. CBS didn't have it listed on it's commericals page, at any rate!

Enjoy!

Babies, Babies, Babies!

Everyone loves babies!!! Well, maybe not the part when you are
squeezing them out and screaming and all that... but I swear about 5
minutes after I had Ava, I was thinking...ohhh, we need MORE!

Yeah, I'm crazy....

Planning the nursery, looking for cute baby items, toys, cute clothes, soft, fuzzy blankies. It's all alot of fun!

For me, half the fun of having a baby is dressing them up all cute! Johanna hit 4
and got an opinion... "I'm not wearing THAT!". My days of putting
whatever _I_ thought was cute on her, were over.

Until... the baby came along! YAY! I have a little dolly to dress up again.

Over at Spiffybaby.com (I LOVE that name!) you can find Upscale Baby Gifts & Unique Toys. Modern Crib Bedding, Designer Clothes, Jewelry & Natural Skin Care Products!

They have a great selection of classic, wooden baby toys! I'm all for toys that don't make a ton of noise, but still inspire creativity!

Not Only do they have a great selection of clothing, gifts and natural skin care products, they also hold a monthly baby photo contest, complete with prizes!

While you are there stop by and check out Spiffy Baby Talk - where one savvy parent meets another! It's a great place to chat and talk about our favorite subject... our babies!!

Not having a baby, but know someone who is? They also offer Gift Certicates as well! They make a great gift for the Mom-To-Be! I know that there's nothing I love more than shopping with other peoples money!

Saving $$$

I'm such a nerd. Well, of course I am or I wouldn't be here, now would I? Regardless...

Last week, the store down the street had one of those deals, where, if you transfer a Rx or bring in a new one, they would give you a $20 GC to the store. So I did that, and then I used it today.

I spent $24.95 of my own, hard earned $ and purchased the following:

4- 12pks of coke (and diet coke)
6 boxes of various Post Cereal
12 pk of 24oz diet coke bottles (they were free with a coupon and the purchase of the 4, 12 packs, which were also on sale)
bananas
2 gallons of milk
2 pkgs of ready to bake cookies
bread, hot dog buns
hamburger buns
4lbs ground beef
and a, errr... donut.. lol

and then I also got my coupon for saving at the gas pumps there. and
that's for .04 off/gal. I have one from the other week for .06/off. So
now I'm up to .10/off each gallon of gas. I'll probably need to fill up
later this week.

The Young and The Restless

Noooo, I'm not talking about my children! Tho, that would describe then really well today! LOL

I'm talking about The Young and the Restless, the daytime soap! Silly people!

Y&R has been around nearly as yours truly!

It debuted back in 1973! Not too many shows have been on TV that long, these days!

If you are a fan, you can head to soaps.com's comprehensive website and get updates, spoilers, recaps and news. If you are new to Y&R, you can read about the history, figure out who's who, and get all caught up on what's been going on on the show!

Sniffle Sniffle

Ug, i am really hoping that my sniffling is cause of the dusting and cleaning i've been doing today and not that I'm getting a cold.

of course the girls have been sneezing all weekend. Bah.

Think I need to start taking Airborne tonite. My nose is just all sniffly and tickly and I feel tired.

Bah.

Message Boards for Hockey Fans

I love my message boards! I've made many, great friends. We have a lot
in common, we love to chat. In fact, just yesterday we were talking
about howsimilar we all were, and that was most likely why we were all posting together!

They've been a great resource to me, through all the stages of motherhood I've
been through so far. It's been great to have knowledgeable women to
chat with, reassure me I wasn'tgoing crazy, etc..

Message boards are a great way to find people who share your interests.

If you are a Hockey Fan, check out the NHL Forums! They have been around for 5 years now, and they are THE place to find all the best Hockey talk! You can chat about your favorite team, make new friends, trade rumors... all that good stuff. So stop by and make some new pals! Just be sure not to break out into a boxing match while you are there! ;)

Super Sunday!

Everyone all geared up for the big game today??

I've got a big old pot of Chili on the stove. Apparently it's a requirement for game day now. LOL

We've been cleaning, doing laundry, fixing the bed we broke... LOL

In between we've been watching more of HIMYM Season 1. We're on the last disc!

Hope you are all having a good Sunday. Don't forget to watch the commercials during the game. Hope they are not as lame as they were last year!!

Easy, Fun E-Cards

I love e-cards! I'm always forgetting to go out and buy cards at the store or I forget to mail them out in time. With practically everyone having an email address these days, e-cards are a great way to make sure your birthday wishes and holiday greetings get out on time.

Egreetings has a vast assortment of free, funny cards. You can even personalize them with a special message and even include a photo!

When you sign up, you receive a free 30-day trial membership. You will be able to send an unlimited number of eCards during the trial period. A yearly subscription is only $13.99! It's a great price when you consider how much you have to pay for those
in-store greetings, not to mention the additional cost of postage!

Additionally, you can sit down 1 day a month with your calendar and select all the
cards you need to send out, and then schedule them to arrive on the appropriate date. You can't beat that! Just set it, and forget it! :)

Valentines Day is coming up! Why don't you go check out Egreetings and see what they have to offer!

Kelli! ~~ Part 5!

Ok, so where was I.....

Friday night, I didn't sleep that great. I kept waking up and thinking "Kelli's Here!" LOL

Saturday we had to get ready for Ava's party. J had Cloverbuds that am, but I needed to whip up 2 cakes and some cupcakes for the party. We ended up running to Wal-Mart in the morning, cause I ran out of eggs and frosting.

That was nice, cause we left the big girls home with Eric and just took Ava out to the store.

Once again the big girls had fun playing, and I baked and we decorated and
got ready for Laura and her gang to arrive. We ordered pizza for lunch.

Laura showed up close to 1pm, and we fed her and the kids and then had cake.
All the kids had a lot of fun playing. We all chatted, Ava had a nap.
Then we got brave and decided to haul 7 kids out to TGI Fridays for supper.

To say we were worn out by the end of the evening was an understatement!

I had a personal goal while Kelli was here. I wanted to get her hooked on HIMYM! Especially since she bought season 1 for me for Christmas! I'm pretty sure we got her hooked too! It's a great show!

Here are a few pics from that Saturday.

Insurance

Insurance is one of those things you NEED to have. Whether it's car insurance or home insurance. Being able to have all your policies at the same place is important. Who wants to write out a check to multiple companies? Lots of companies alsoofter you a discount if you use them for all of your insurance needs. Getting a good price is important to a lot of people!

We were lucky, in that we were able to get all our insurance needs taken care of through or bank, when we purchased out house.

Lately, tho I've been wondering if I should look online and compare car insurance prices. Maybe we can do better than our current policy. My car is almost 11 years old,Hubsters is 6. I was thinking our insurance should be going down, instead of staying the same.

We're also talking about getting a new (to me) van this spring. My little Grand-Am is just not cutting with two kids, not to mention trying to take the dogs' to the vet or anything. It would be good to get some quotes on some different vehicles, especially since I am wanting a more recent model!

Culvers

We love Culvers!! When Kelli and Stephanie we here, we had to be sure to take them there for lunch. Kelli's heard me talk about going there enough over the years, so she needed to find out about it for herself.

When we were there, I grabbed the flyer with the Flavors of the Day for Feb. I noticed that Feb. 2nd, was my favorite "Rainbow Mint" so I made sure I remembered, and the girls and I headed there for lunch this afternoon.

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Johanna even ventured from her usually "Vanilla" to try it. She really liked
it. I mean, mint frozen custard, mini M&M's... what's not to love?

Speaking of Kelli, I know I need to work on blogging about the rest of her
visit. I'm sure we will be hibernating this weekend, so I should get
all caught up with it then!

Jewel Quest 2

I Love Jewel Quest!! It's a fun and addicting game! I especially love
it when I can manage to make several groupings all at once.

On February 9th, iWin will be releasing their newest version, Jewel Quest 2.

You download the game straight to your computer. The download includes a
free, 1 hour trial. If you are hooked after that like I am, then it's just $20 to buy the full version.

As an added bonus, if you head over to the Jewel Quest 2 Page now and sign up for the free email newsletter, you will be entered into a contest to win a trip for 4 to Disney's Animal Kingdom!!

I *Heart* Shopping

All my friends know, I love to shop! Being a SAHM allows me to go out during the day, and get my shopping done. In fact, several of my IRL friends like to use me as their personal shopper. I love shopping with other peoples money!

What I enjoy most about shopping, is finding a great deal! There's nothing that thrills me more than finding a bargain!

When the weather turns cruddy, I tend to do a lot of shopping online. I'm always hunting the web for great coupon codes! For my favorite stores.

Recently, I've been taking advantage of the post-holiday sales, and buying ahead for next fall/winter for the girls. I got some awesome deals from Disney Shopping. They have a great outlet section with tons of deals! Johanna got lots of Princess PJ's. I bought both girls' Halloween costumes and Ava got a cute Mickey Mouse romper for this summer!

It's a good thing

for Ava that she's cute!

Especially at 5:30am, when she decides she's awake, and I am a jungle gym. She gives me wet kisses and then climbs on my head, laughing the whole time.

I get up, stumble around, change her, eat breakfast. She plays a while.

An hour later, I'm totally awake, and she goes back to sleep! The stinker!!

Oh, and if you were wondering... I washed 6 loads of laundry yesterday!!

Mt. Laundry

If anyone is looking for me today, I will be off tackling Mt. Laundry.

It's not just MY laundry. Mine and the girls'. I've been scraping the bottom the the barrel as far as acceptable clothes for me to wear in public for DAYS.

Finally I have a day where I don't have to run any errands or anything. So today is going to be dedicated to laundry.

Maybe I'll pop in later with a "loads washed" count. LOL

Wish me luck!!

Workplace Pranks, Go Global

Have you heard about this InPhonic prank? I think it's pretty funny. I could totally see the hubster and his co-worker friends doing something like this to a fellow co-worker. Whether they'd actually think to post the pictures all over the internet like these guys did, I don't know.

Can you just imagine, heading to your car in the parking garage, after a long days work and seeing this??

Isn't that a riot? Thankfully the car owner thought it was hilarious too. He only took the post it's off the windows so he could drive home. He wanted to show his kids his new, colorful car! ROFL
